Fate of Intravenously Administered Glucosamine in the Rat

Abstract
Within 10 minutes after intravenous injection, 80-90% of administered glucosamine-HCl disappeared from the blood. This was true in intact rats as well as nephrectomized and hepatectomized rats. Approximately 50% of the administered dose was destroyed in the body in less than 1 hour. The remainder distributed itself in all tissues, especially those rich in extracellular fluid.
