Abstract
The exercise-induced serum growth hormone rise was investigated in male non-obese juvenile diabetics and in control subjects. The rise was higher in diabetics than in non-diabetics during moderate (450 kgm/min) as well as during heavy (900 kgm/min) work loads, and the rise occurred earlier in the diabetics during the moderate work load. The rise was higher during the 20 minutes of heavy work than during the first 20 minutes of moderate work in both diabetics and controls. In the controls, glucose infusion completely blocked the growth hormone rise during the moderate work load, while there was no blocking effect during the heavy work load. In the diabetics, glucose infusion was without blocking effect during the moderate as well as during the heavy work load. Keywords
