Abstract
Prolonged photolysis of CH3N3 in an Ar matrix at 4°K produces HNC by the photolytic decomposition of the initially produced CH2=NH. Infrared observations on various isotopically substituted species confirm this identification and indicate that HNC is linear. The force constants and thermodynamic properties of HNC are presented. Keywords
