Abstract
Thyroidectomized animals were fed desiccated thyroid for a period of three days. The basal heat production returned to the hypothyroid level in approximately 24 days. A group of thyroidectomized animals were given desiccated thyroid substance for a period of 3 days and injected with amniotin for 3 days following thyroid feeding. The basal heat production returned to the hypothyroid level in approximately 12 days. The results were probably due to a neutralization of the excess thyroid substance or an elimination of this product by means of an anti-hormone reaction. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
