Abstract
Testosterone was isolated from both the "free" and conjugated steroid fractions obtained from the plasma of spawned female sockeye salmon. The structure of the steroid was confirmed by several criteria including a sulphuric acid chromogen and infrared spectra. Evidence is presented for the presence of testosterone in the conjugated steroid fraction prepared from spawned male sockeye. Several unsuccessful attempts were made to detect dehydroepiandrosterone and androsterone.Keywords
