Abstract
The absorption spectrum of an Mn2+‐doped KCl crystal has been measured at room temperature. The observed bands are assigned as transitions from the 6A1(S) ground state to various excited quartet levels of a Mn2+ ion in a cubic crystalline field. The observed band energies are fitted with four parameters B, C, Dq, and α and the values obtained for the parameters in cm−1 are B=760, C=2955, Dq=590, and α=76.Keywords
