Near Infrared Spectrum of Nitric Oxide

Abstract

The 2—0 and 3—0 vibration‐rotation bands of NO at 2.69 μ and 1.8 μ have been obtained and measured. The envelope of the 4—0 band at 1.36 μ was obtained. Careful reduction of the data yields the following rotational constants: $$B_0\text{=1.6965\hspace{0.17em}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\text{−1}}$$ $$B_2\text{=1.6631\hspace{0.17em}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\text{−1}}$$ $$B_3\text{=1.6408\hspace{0.17em}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\text{−1}}$$ $$B_e\text{=1.7060\hspace{0.17em}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\text{−1}}$$ $${\alpha }_e\text{=0.0180\hspace{0.17em}}{\mathrm{cm}}^{\text{−1}}$$ $$I_e{\text{=16.404×10}}^{\text{−40}}\hspace{0.17em}\mathrm{g}\hspace{0.17em}{\mathrm{cm}}^2$$ $$r_e{\text{=1.1503×10}}^{\text{−8}}\hspace{0.17em}\mathrm{cm}$$
