Abstract
In Escherichia coli, streptomycin does not inhibit the formation of citrate from oxalacetate and pyruvate but markedly inhibits the complete oxidation of a mixture of the 2 substances. The acetate-oxalacetate condensation to citrate cannot be the sole or major pathway by which pyruvate enters terminal respiration. Keywords
