Internal iron exchange in the rat

Abstract
Radioiron, incubated with fresh plasma, was injected intravenously, and its subsequent distribution in tissue freed of blood was followed. Transferrin was also labeled so that localization of the transferrin-iron complex could be differentiated from localization of iron alone. Data indicating the quantitative importance of the erythron, reticuloendothelial tissue, liver, muscles, skin, and intestine over a period of 100 days are presented.
