Abstract
Streptomycin was found to alter the formation of codon-ribosome-aminoacyl-sRNA complexes in response to poly- and trinucleotide templates. Such effects were obtained with streptomycin-sensitive, but not with -resistant ribosomes. In the presence of streptomycin, an increase in the level of ambiguity was observed in response to poly U templates. The results were related to possible mechanisms of condon recognition. Keywords
