Phosphoinositides. 2. The inositol 1-phosphate structure in liver phosphatidylinositol

Abstract
Carefully purified inositol monophosphate from an alkaline hydrolysate of groundnut inositides was optically active. This inositol monophosphate, inositol 2-phosphate and (-)-inositol 3-phosphate were all resistant to oxidation by Acetobacter suboxydans (A.T.C.C. 621). The enzymic hydrolysis of liver phosphatidylinositol released inositol 1-phosphate. It is concluded that liver phosphatidylinositol has the inositol 1-phosphate structure.
