Abstract
The miscible glucose pool in normal and in diabetic dogs was detd. by a method which combines a single-injn. and constant-infusion technique employing minute amts. of labeled glucose. The total amt. of labeled glucose administered in each expt. did not exceed 1 mg. In normal dogs weighing 6-8 kg., the miscible glucose pool amounts to 2-3 g. In diabetic dogs the glucose pool is increased about 3-fold, and is restored to normal by insulin injns. It was found in normal, diabetic, and diabetic dogs injd. with insulin that the space occupied by diffusible glucose is of the order of 30% of the dog''s wt.Keywords
