Abstract
Concentrations of free amino acids from 6 tissues of normal and vitamin E -deficient rabbits were determined by Dowex-50 chromatography. Ethanolamine phosphate, taurine, aspartic acid, threonine, glutamic acid, proline and alanine increased in muscle, heart, spleen, and liver of dystrophic animals, but glycine and serine decreased markedly. All of these amino acids decreased in kidney and especially brain. Concentration of glycine was more consistently reduced than other amino acids in the various tissues, change suggesting that it is implicated in the dystrophic state. Keywords
