Abstract
The C22-acidproduced from cholate by S. gelaticus 1164 was isolated and identified as 7-[alpha]-hydroxy-3,12-diketo-[DELTA]4-bisnor-cholenic acid (m.p. 280-282[degree]C with decomposition) by chemical analysis as well as by infrared spectro-photometry in Nujol (peaks at 3.00, 5.83, 6.05, 6.21 and 6.25 [mu]). This C22-acid is easily dehydrated by H+ or OH- to 3,12-diketo- [DELTA]4,6-bisnor-choladienic acid. Keywords
