Effects of Sodium Depletion on Renal FunctionBy "sodium depletion" we mean loss of significant quantities of sodium from the body. This may occur through profuse sweating, through diarrhea or other modes of loss of gastrointestinal secretions or through the excretion of excessive sodium in the urine. The clinical conditions that predispose to the development of sodium depletion are too numerous and too well known to warrant discussion here.
