Determination of α-Lactalbumin in Complex Systems

Abstract
A simple procedure based on immunological techniques originally described by Oudin has been devised to determine accurately the level of [alpha]-lactalbumin present in complex systems. Milk and milk products are diluted to bring them into the usable standard curve determination range of 6 to 80 [mu]g/ml. With a concentration procedure, it is possible to evaluate levels down to less than 1 [mu]g/ml. of [alpha]-lactalbumin. Other proteins of milk, blood, or other tissue sources do not interfere in the assay.
