Progestational Activity of Certain Steroid-17-Spirolactones

Abstract

The synthetic steroid 3-(3-oxo-17[beta]-hydroxy-4-androsten-17[alpha]-yl) propionic acid gamma lactone and its 19-nor analog possess progestational activity in the estrogen-primed, immature rabbit when administered by the parenteral route. The 19-nor compound also has marked oral progestational potency.
