Further Characterization of an Insulin Antagonist in the Serum of Patients in Diabetic Acidosis

Abstract
An insulin antagonist occurring in the sera of some patients in diabetic acidosis has been further characterized. It is inactivated by chymotrypsin but not by trypsin and migrates electrophoretically as an a1-globulin. The antagonist inhibits human as well as beef-pork insulin. It is suggested that the antagonist may be of etiologic significance in some cases of diabetes.
