Über das Schicksal teilweise hydrierter aromatischer Verbindungen im Tierkörper

Abstract

Several partially hydrogenated o-toluic acids and their amides were synthesized, starting with crotonic aldehyde, and their constitution detd. Metabolism expts. with them on rabbits showed that the dehydrating capacity of the rabbit enzymes was sufficient to convert the dihydro-compounds into benzene derivatives, but not sufficient to form an aromatic ring from tetrahydro- or hexahydro-compounds.
