Abstract
There are at least 3 acid polysaccharides in prepns. from whole hog gastric mucosae. In addition to a heparin there are 2 different chondroitin sulfuric acids (polysaccharides B and D). Polysac-charide D is probably the chondroitin sulfuric acid formerly isolated from cartilage. These polysaccharides were obtained homogeneous as evidenced by electrophoresis and ultracentrifugation. Partial solubility studies yield no evidence for heterogeneity in polysac-charide D, but show polysaccharide B to be to some extent heterogeneous. Probably this is the first isolation of chondrosamine-containing polysaccharides from prepns. of hog stomach mucosa; no mucoitin monosulfuric acid was extracted from these prepns. Keywords
