Abstract
Growth studies were conducted with Chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) and coho (O. kisutch) salmon fingerlings to determine the minimal requirements for arginine and histidine. A 40% protein diet containing an essential amino acid pattern similar to that found in whole egg protein was used as the experimental diet. The coho salmon required about 2.3% arginine and 0.7% histidine. The Chinook salmon required 2.4% arginine in the diet and the histidine requirement was placed at about 0.7% of the ration. Keywords
