Gyromagnetic Ratio of2+Rotational States

Abstract
The angular distribution of gamma rays following Coulomb excitation of millimicrosecond 2+ states in Nd150, Sm152, Sm154, Gd154, Gd156, and Gd160 were investigated. The gamma-ray angular distributions from solid oxide targets showed substantial perturbations. The attenuation coefficients for liquid nitrate targets were measured to be: Nd150, G2L=1±0.035; Sm152, G2L=1±0.035; Sm154, G2L=1.1±0.10; Gd154, G2L=0.5±0.06; Gd156, G2L=0.6±0.04; Gd160, G2L=0.6±0.06. The influence of the paramagnetic ion and the liquid environment on the angular distributions are discussed.
