Abstract
Experience with 120 trials indicates the value of the modified Kolff dialyzer as an adjunct to conservative management in both acute renal insufficiency and selected cases of chronic renal disease. Special indications for the procedure in anuria are acute K intoxication, pulmonary edema and the refractory hypotension associated with combined hepatic and renal failure. Contraindications are bleeding and severe vascular disease. Keywords
