Abstract
High-power microwave radiation is observed when a positive pulse is applied to an anode of a reflex triode. The frequency of radiation varies as , where is the anode voltage, is the cathode-virtual-cathode spacing, and . The basic features of the radiation are explained by a theoretical model which predicts particle bunching as a result of the energy dependence of the electron oscillation frequency.
