Abstract
In 20 expts. on 3 hypertensive and 3 normotensive dogs, Nembutal in dosages of 25 mg./kg. intraven. or 30 mg./kg. intraperit. lowers the mean arterial pressure of exptl. renal hypertensive dogs of long duration (more than 1 yr.) in the 1st 60 min. following the admn. of this anesthetic. Normotensive control dogs under the same conditions show a consistent rise in mean arterial pressure. These results are consistent with the "dual mechanism" for exptl. renal hypertension which has been reported previously. Keywords
