Cyanide metabolism and vitamin B12 in multiple sclerosis.

Abstract
Cyanide-B12 metabolism was studied in 6 patients with multiple sclerosis and 7 controls with other neurological disorders. Plasma and urine cyanide and thiocyanate were measured and total serum B12 as well as serum B12 extractable without added cyanide were estimated using Laetobacillus leichmannii. Results indicated no abnormality of cyanide metabolism or total serum B12 concentrations related to multiple sclerosis. The significance of the slight increase in serum B12 extractable without cyanide in multiple sclerosis is uncertain at this time.This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
