Abstract
In an attempt to define the mechanism of hyperlipemia in antikidney serum nephrosis in rats, measurements were made of content and specific activity (after endogenous labeling) of lipids in liver, carcass and serum during the development of hyperlipemia. The observed changes from normal were best explained on the basis of increased hepatic synthesis and discharge of lipid, together with retention of lipid in serum. In support of this view were 2 further observations: (1) there was a decrease in the rate of removal from serum of radioactivity injected as labeled chylomicrons, and (2) labeled unesterified fatty acids were rapidly removed from the serum, but returned to the circulation in an esterified form to a greater extent than in normal animals. This publication has 24 references indexed in Scilit:
