Liver glycogenase

Abstract
A method of preparation of glycogenase from rabbit''s liver is descr. The enzyme converts glycogen into glucose, the rate of reaction being greatest on the alkaline side of neutrality. Maltose is quantitatively changed into glucose by the enzyme. NaCl has no significant effect on the rate of reaction. The enzyme is destroyed by dialysis and its activity is not restored by NaCl. No significant decrease in the glycogenase in the liver was observed to follow administration of convulsive doses of insulin.
