Abstract
Forty hospitalized patients with mostly uncomplicated urinary tract infections received treatment for ten days with either pivmecillinam/pivampicillin or pivmecillinam alone. The bacteriological cure rate immediately after therapy was discontinued was 82% (18/22) in the combination group and 72% (13/18) in the pivmecillinam group. The causative organisms wereEnterobacteriaceae in 89% of the cases. All but one were sensitivein vitro to mecillinam alone. No side-effects were recorded. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
