PIG HEART GLUTAMIC ASPARTIC TRANSAMINASE MECHANISM OF TRANSAMINATION

Abstract
Evidence is presented which indicates that the coenzyme of glutamic aspartic transaminase is only pyridoxal phosphate and not pyridoxamine phosphate. A new hypothesis of transamination is proposed in which the enzyme forms a ternary complex with both amino acid and keto acid prior to the exchange of amino and keto groups.
