THE TREATMENT OF DYSFUNCTIONAL UTERINE BLEEDING WITH TESTOSTERONE PROPIONATE

Abstract
38 women, 25 premenopausal and 13 younger, were treated with testosterone propionate, intramuscularly, 3 times weekly for 2-9 wks., doses varying from 2.5 to 25 mg. 9 of the women had menorrhagia for an avg. of 17 mos. 29 had metror-rhagia for an avg. of 12 wks. 26 of the 38 (68%) were cured and 12 (32%) were only temporarily or not at all improved by the therapy. No constitutional or local ill-effects were noted. Menstrual rhythm was not disturbed. Fertility was not decreased.
