Abstract
Employing techniques which permit electron microscopic observations of hemoglobin-free reticulocyte ghosts, evidence has been derived for a population of large polyribosomes containing up to 20 ribosomes. Similar structures have been recovered from rapidly sedimenting fractions from a sucrose density gradient of hemolysates of these cells. The large polyribosomes are degraded by ribonuclease but not by desaxycholate. Keywords
