Abstract
We consider the mean-square displacements (MSD) of atoms situated in a physisorbed monolayer. These MSD are found to diverge logarithmically when the ratio between the force constant coupling the physisorbed atoms to the substrate and the force constant coupling the physisorbed atoms between themselves is diverging. When going towards the bulk, the difference between the surface MSD and the bulk one is proportional to the inverse of the depth. Keywords
