Abstract
The fasted rat is responsive to the hypoglycemic effects of Orinase (1-butyl-3-p-tolylsulfenyl-uria) within one hour. Blood sugar is not restored until the 15th hour. Orinase depresses the fasting ketosis of the rat. The effect is a rapid and transient one, but may be reobtained by a 2d dose of the drug. Orinase causes a rise in liver glycogen of the fasting rat and a deposition of glycogen in the interscapular fat pad of the fed, but not fasted rat. Keywords
