Effect of 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid on the Alpha and Beta Amylase Activity in the Stems and Leaves of Red Kidney Bean Plants

Abstract
Studies on red kidney bean plants show that 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid lowers the activity of both the alpha- and beta-amylase in the stems, but has no effect on the beta-amylase activity of the leaves. No activity of alpha-amylase was noted in leaves of treated or untreated plants.
