Abstract
From an analysis of magnetoreflectance at 119 μm, we obtain values for electron densities, cyclotron masses, and scattering rates in the inversion-layer subbands on -PbTe. The results for the subband densities are in qualitative agreement with the predictions of a simple triangular-well model. Spin resonance of inversion-layer electrons is also observed. A study of cyclotron resonance in magnetic fields tilted with respect to the sample normal shows the dominance of Landau quantization over the electric-subband quantization for motion perpendicular to the surface.
