Applied Behavior Analysis and Learning Disabilities

Abstract

Included in Part I of this report was an explanation of the ABA research method and how this method could be used to investigate general curricular topics. In Part II, the focus is on specific curricular areas of importance to learning disabled youngsters: reading, spelling, penmanship, writing, and arithmetic. In each area, the specific variables that have been studied by other applied behavior analysts are briefly mentioned. A statement as to which behaviors have been measured and which interventions have been arranged is included. Next, there is a short description of the research conducted at the Curriculum Research Classroom. Following this is mention of some research that should be conducted. This part of the report concludes with some considerations for teaching, derived from ABA research, that practitioners can implement in their current instructional situations.
