Solubility of Human Gallstones in Primate Gallbladder.

Abstract
Human gallstones are much less soluble in monkey gallbladders than in other experimental animals suggesting that monkey bile is more saturated with cholesterol. Comparison of the composition of various bile samples indicated that the only significant difference is a higher cholesterol concentration in human and monkey bile than is found in dog bile. Paper chromatography demonstrated the presence of cholic, deoxycholic, and chenodeoxycholic acids, as well as an unknown substance, in monkey bile.
