Abstract
Measurements of tail length and total body length of rats suffering from avitaminosis A showed that increase in length continues when increase in wt. has ceased. Post mortem measurement of the leg bones showed that as compared with pos. controls the bones continued to grow while the rat lost wt. These results indicate that the most important role of vit. A in nutrition lies in its power to prevent the onset of pathologic conditions which cause the loss of wt. in vit. A deficiency. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
