Abstract
Among 5500 West African natives examined, 12.4% showed the presence of sicklemia. This agrees reasonably well with the reported incidence of 7.48% among the negroes of the U. S., 11.2% incidence among Panama Canal Zone negroes, and 28.3% incidence among the natives of Gambia. Keywords
