Abstract
A series of laboratory studies conducted to identify the best calling procedures from the user's standpoint is described. The results of the studies have been incorporated into the Bell Laboratories AMPS control unit design recommendations. The primary constraint on such procedures was the preorigination dialing concept described. Keywords
