Abstract
The "gradient" double diffusion method of Augustin and Hayward is compared critically with the "simple" double diffusion method of Oakley and Fulthorpe and Oudin''s single diffusion method. The reasons for the greater sensitivity of the gradient diffusion method are pointed out. Theories describing Ag-Ab behavior in single and double diffusion methods are discussed and attempts are made to elucidate the mechanism of reaction in the gradient diffusion method.
