The adenosine polyphosphates, creatine phosphate and ascorbic acid content of rat brain

Abstract
Techniques are described by which the in vivo levels of adenosine polyphosphates, creatine phosphate, creatine and ascorbic acid in rat brain were determined. Good reproducibility of results and clear-cut separation of compounds were obtained. A significant increase in cerebral creatine phosphate levels was found in animals pretreated with pentobarbital anesthesia but no changes were found in adenosine triphosphate concentration. The administration of ether anesthesia to animals caused a decrease in cerebral creatine phosphate but no change in nucleotide concentration compared with values for control animals. All results are given in tabular form.
