MUCOPOLYSACCHARIDES OF THE ARTERIAL WALL

Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to review some of the histochemical methods that are commonly used to demonstrate mucopolysaccharides in human arteries. Method included in this review are the Periodic Acid-Schiff technique, Colloidal Iron methods, Alcian Blue methods, and the newer techniques for identifying individual acid polysaccharides (hydrolytic enzyme differentiation and differential solubility).
