Shwartzman Phenomenon. III. Modifications of Nitrogen-Mustard Suppression.

Abstract

Studies on the effect of cysteine and inflammation on the leukopenia induced in the rabbit by N mustard, indicate that both agents reduce or eliminate the leukopenia. With the decreased leukopenic effect of the mustard in animals treated with cysteine or inflammatory agents, there is a decrease in the suppressive action of N-mustard on the Shwartzman phenomenon.
