Hyperon polarizabilities

Abstract
We use baryon chiral perturbation theory in the heavy mass formulation to calculate the electromagnetic polarizabilities of the low-lying octet baryons. For the proton and the neutron, we compare with the available data and for the hyperons with recent quark-model predictions.
