Abstract
When rats were anesthetized and the gastrocnemius muscle made to lift 100 gms. 3 times per sec. a definite gain in the avg. wts. of the adrenal glands was demonstrated to occur as early as 12 hrs. after the beginning of work. This hypertrophy did not occur during work when similar rats were either hypophysectomized or treated with cortin. The adm. of adrenotropic hormone to hypophysectomized rats likewise induced a hypertrophy of the adrenal glands by the end of 12 hrs. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
