Guanine and Factor Z 1 , Growth Substances for Phycomyces

Abstract
Although guanine appears to be a growth factor for Phycomyces, it is not factor Z1. This follows because treatment with nitrous acid destroyed the activity of guanine while it did not affect that of factor Z1 concentrates.
