Antral Inhibition of Gastric Secretion.

Abstract
A Heidenhain pouch and 2 separate, marsupialized, antral pouches in the dog were prepared. Studies on 4 dogs indicated that reduction of pH within one antral pouch inhibited production of HC1 by the Heidenhain pouch under constant stimulation by perfusion of alcohol in the 2d antral pouch. This inhibition of HC1 production occurred in 17 of 23 experiments and was statistically significant (< 0.01) suggesting the release of an inhibitory hormone by the antrum exposed to low pH.
