Abstract
Approximately 50 cases of survival from thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura are reported in the literature. Dextran, aspirin dipyridamole and sulfinpyrazone were used in cases in which 18 patients survived. Most were also treated with steroids, splenectomy or both. The mechanisms of actions of the antiplatelet agents are discussed. Keywords
